The Colorado Snowsports Museum, a nonprofit museum at 231 S. Frontage Road East in Vail Village, tells the story of skiing and snowboarding in Colorado, with permanent collections on the evolution of snowboarding and the legacy of the 10th Mountain Division. Its Hall of Fame says it has inducted more than 250 athletes, sport builders, pioneers and icons of snow sports in Colorado since 1977. The museum is open daily 10 am-6 pm in the Vail Village parking structure (3rd level), next to the Vail Village covered bridge; it does not charge admission but a donation of $10* is appreciated, and the Vail Village parking structure is free after 3 pm.
Top of the Rockies runs within 4.4 miles: the Federal Highway Administration designates it a National Scenic Byway, 75 miles through CO.

| Designated a National Scenic Byway by the U.S. Secretary of Transportation; 75 miles in CO; FHWA suggests: 2.5 hours to drive or a couple of days to visit the byway. Distance from this stop to the route measured against the published byway centreline on the U.S. Department of Transportation map service (geo.dot.gov), which carries no stated licence and predates the 2021 designations; the measurement is ours, the line is theirs and is not reproduced here. 4.4 miles (checked 2026-10-29) | Federal Highway Administration: Top of the Rockies | Checked |
