Lost City Museum

Nevada

The Lost City Museum in Overton was built in 1935 by members of the Civilian Conservation Corps, originally as the Boulder Dam Park Museum, to exhibit artifacts from local prehistoric archaeological sites, most of which were flooded when the Colorado River was dammed to form Lake Mead; the archaeologist M.R. Harrington named the sites the Pueblo Grande de Nevada. Outdoor exhibits include a Native American pit house and reconstructed pueblos, and the grounds have a picnic area. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and closed Mondays; admission is $8* for adults and seniors 65 and older, and free for ages 17 and under and for members. It is at 721 S. Moapa Valley Blvd, and the museum's directions use I-15 exit 93 (Overton/Logandale) and Moapa Valley Boulevard (NV 169).
