Moapa Valley National Wildlife Refuge

Nevada

Moapa Valley National Wildlife Refuge is a 136-acre U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service refuge, established in 1979 to protect the endangered Moapa dace and its thermal-spring habitat in Clark County. Visitors can use a stream viewing window onto the underwater world of the Moapa dace and other aquatic wildlife, walk the half-mile Overlook Trail (which the Service calls moderately challenging), or use the shaded picnic pavilion. The refuge is open to the public Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., September through May, and is closed all of June, July and August; entry is always free. It is at 4001 W Warm Springs Road, Moapa, and the Service's directions use the Moapa/Glendale exit (exit 90 from Las Vegas, exit 91 from St. George or Mesquite) and Highway 168.
