What to Know Before You Arrive
Titusville had 48,789 residents at the 2020 census, up from 43,761 in 2010, with a 2024 estimate of 49,888. Henry T. Titus arrived in 1867 and established the settlement, which incorporated as a city in 1887; the city was historically also known as the City of Churches for its many religious institutions. Starting in the late 1950s, development of Cape Canaveral and Kennedy Space Center on neighboring Merritt Island drove significant economic growth, and by the 1960s the city carried the nicknames Space City USA and Miracle City.
The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex was established August 1, 1967, spans 42 acres, and welcomed 1.7 million visitors in 2016. It offers exhibits and displays, historic spacecraft and memorabilia, shows, two IMAX theaters, bus tours, and daily presentations by veteran NASA astronauts. Delaware North Companies has operated the complex since 1995 under a contract extending through 2028.
The Apollo/Saturn V Center, a 100,000-square-foot building that opened in 1996, houses a restored Saturn V launch vehicle displayed horizontally, alongside two theaters simulating the launch and lunar-landing environments and artifacts including the Apollo 14 command module. The Space Shuttle Atlantis exhibit, a $100 million installation that opened in 2013, displays the actual orbiter positioned at a 43.21-degree angle with its payload bay doors open — a view previously seen only from space — alongside flight simulators and a Hubble Space Telescope replica.
The Road Trip Stop
The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex centers on two flagship exhibits: the Apollo/Saturn V Center, where a restored Saturn V rocket lies horizontally inside a 100,000-square-foot building, and the Space Shuttle Atlantis exhibit, where the actual orbiter is displayed at the same 43.21-degree angle it flew in space. The complex also offers rocket launch viewing from designated areas with close views of the active launch pads.
What the visit involves
- The Apollo/Saturn V Center opened in 1996 and displays the rocket alongside Apollo program artifacts including the Apollo 14 command module.
- The Atlantis exhibit opened in 2013 as a $100 million installation, with the orbiter suspended at a 43.21-degree angle and payload bay doors open.
- Launch viewing is offered from designated areas within the complex; the Visitor Complex says the viewing locations available differ for every launch and that launch dates and times are subject to change with little notice, so current launch information should be checked on the official site.
- Current admission pricing and hours are posted on the Visitor Complex's own site. Its 2026 hours page lists 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Sunday, from August 10 to November 25, 2026, with entry ending 1 hour before closing and times subject to change based on peak seasons; Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day 2026 are listed as closed.

Space Coast
The broader regional name for the area around Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral, most of it in Brevard County, which includes Titusville and Cape Canaveral.
Indian River waterfront
The riverside area of Titusville on the Indian River, facing Merritt Island. The City of Titusville says anywhere along its shoreline gives the closest unobstructed view of the launch pads, and lists Space View Park, on the river's shore in downtown, as less than 15 miles directly across from them.
The Food Stop
The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex operates on-site dining for visitors: its dining page lists several restaurants and food stands and links a dietary guide, and current options and hours should be checked on the complex's own site. Downtown Titusville holds a separate set of local restaurants; Visit Space Coast, the county tourism office, describes downtown as the historic heart of the city, filled with unique shops and restaurants, and hours and menus should be checked individually.

Practical Road Trip Info
One-day admission to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is listed at $77* for ages 12 and over and $67* for ages 3 to 11, and the one-day ticket does not include parking. Add-on experiences, including extended bus tours, are not included with admission, and current prices should be checked on the official site before planning a visit.
Launch viewing from the Visitor Complex depends on the launch window, launch pad, Visitor Complex operations, Space Force Range Safety and NASA approval, and anticipated public interest, and launch dates and times are subject to change with little notice; the Visitor Complex's own site posts current launch information.
The Apollo/Saturn V Center and the Atlantis exhibit are both large, separate buildings within the complex; a full visit to both typically takes most of a day.
Merritt Island, where the space center sits, is reached from Titusville across the Indian River.
